CJE: Training and Job Prospects Month

Lancement Mois FPE 2013MAGOG: The 4th Edition of ‘Training and Job Prospects Month’ has arrived in the MRC of Memphrémagog with over twenty different activities being launched this year! Are you looking for a new job or career? Townships job-seekers of all ages (18 +) will be able to find what they are looking for! All events are free of charge.

The goal of ‘Training and Job Prospects Month’ is to strengthen and enhance the training and employment opportunities within the MRC de Memphrémagog. Initiated by the Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi Memphrémagog, this event, running from March 20 to April 20, 2013, will present a variety of activities linked to employment, training, and entrepreneurship in various locations around Magog, Stanstead and the Township of Potton. For the fourth season, the ‘Magog Employment Speed Dating’ event will offer numerous employment opportunities for people wishing to work in the region.

During this busy month, there will be ‘Job Seeker Breakfasts, workshops and guidance on job searching, a conference with a local entrepreneur, a panel discussion with employers and job seekers, observational internships with the Town of Magog and the Centre de santé et des services sociaux de Memphrémagog (CSSS), an employment 5 à 7, and much more.//Some events are specifically directed at English-speaking job seekers. "Since our MRC has many English speaking people, we are pleased to welcome Job Links as a partner this year,” said Josée Boily, Director of the CJE Memphrémagog. “Job Links will be offering job interview simulations as well as participating in the popular English-language Job Seekers’ Breakfast hosted once again this year by CEDEC.”

New, this year, will be a conference on ‘Mental Health at Work’, organized by Trav-action. In short, there should be something special for everyone!

The public is invited to view the complete program of activities in the www.cjememphremagog.qc.ca or in the newspaper Le Reflet du Lac which will be publishing a special insert every week during the campaign.

Events of particular interest to English-speaking workers:

--Salon Priorité: Emploi Estrie 2013 to be held on March 22 & 23 at the Sherbrooke Sports Palace in Sherbrooke East (Fri – 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Sat – 9:30a.m.-4p.m.) Businesses will have set up booths and can inform you first-hand what they have to offer and employee requirements, on-site workshops and activities. --Job Interview Simulation in English: March 28 (9a.m.-noon) at the CLSC in Stanstead. Group sessions on how to prepare for a job interview: participants must have their resumé and the job offer they have chosen to apply for. He or she will then meet two job interviewers and proceed to answer the interview questions in English. Interviewers will provide feedback on his or her performance. --Job Interview Simulation in English: April 2, 9, & 16(1p.m.-4p.m.) at the Centre local d’emploi (1700 Sherbrooke Street, Suite 235 (Galerie Orford in Magog)

--Choices for your Future: April 8 (5p.m-6:15p.m.) at 10 Phelps, in Stanstead. Includes interactive and informative activity in English on vocational trades opportunities with the vocational center in Lennoxville. Targetting youth from Phelps-Helps. Is also open to all high school students from Stanstead area.

-- SPEED DATING FOR JOBS: Saturday, April 20 (10a.m-4p.m.) at l’école La Ruche, Magog. Aside from the 5-minute interview sessions, there will also be other jobs posted on the ‘JOB WALL’ throughout the day on Saturday. There will also be a short conference held at noon on how to take back control of your job search and how to find the hidden job market (80 % of available jobs).

--A meeting for business people from Stanstead has also been organized for April 16, to take place in Salle Molson Coors (Pat Burns Arena) at 5p.m. (must confirm before April 12 at 819-876-7181). This meeting will provide employers from Stanstead with an opportunity to meet and learn more about services available for recruitment and retention of the workforce, job creation and job sustainability. Open discussion with animator.
