On behalf of Laurent Lessard – Minister for the Municipal Affairs, the Regions and State, Deputy Pierre Reid (Orford) announced $25,000 in financial support to Le Lapin de Stanstead (9197-8874 Quebec Inc.) for the production and marketing of a “mousse de foie de lapin” (mousse made from rabbit liver). This financial assistance comes from measures to stimulate the development of specialty products, an innovative measure resulting from the National Policy of Ruralité 2007-2014.
“By this measure, the promoters of our region will have additional financial resources to invest in the development of specialty products which in turn diversifies our regional economy and actively develops our local rural medium”, Deputy Pierre Reid explained.
Thanks to this financial support, the company will produce a “mousse de foie de lapin au cidre de glace”(rabbit liver mousse mixed with iced cider). This new product will allow the company a better use of its raw material, a diversification of its production and the marketing of the new product, falling under the current tendencies of consumers. The total cost of the project is
estimated at $53,900.
“We are very happy with this innovative measure contained in the National Policy of Rurality which gives a boost to our craftspeople and our local businesses in order to encourage the development of new products and to support the vitality of our region”, added Minister Laurent Lessard.
The purpose of measurement to stimulate the development of specialty products, with a subsidy that can reach up to $25,000 per project, is to support the creation of new activities in rural areas while supporting projects related to the resources, knowledge, know-how and innovative capacities of our rural promoters. The program supports micro-projects in the bio-food industry as well as non-woody forest products, forestry, culture, heritage and products of the crafter industry.
