Date: March 15, 2012  Region: Coaticook

valrie gosselinThe Beaulne Museum of Coaticook is pleased to present the exhibition 'Undepicted' by multidisciplinary artist Valérie J. Gosselin, from Sunday; March 18 – April 29, 2012. The official launch of the exhibit will take place on Sunday March 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. The public is cordially invited.

Through various mediums - noble, recycled, molded, or assembled – Gosselin's artistic manifesto is reflected in a desire to create in situ installations that are completed in relationship with the viewer. Technically her multidisciplinary facilities, punctuated with interventions, consist mainly of sculptures, conceptual or formal, and explore themes of space, emptiness, and immateriality. Her research is based on the premise of the interrelationship and interaction between the artwork and the observer. She is concerned with the functions of the art object in context with a topological or metric space - how it acts as a trigger or catalyst in our process of inquiry and actualization.

Gosselin's multidisciplinary training began in elementary school, since she attended various alternative schools where music, dance, and visual arts were pre-dominant components of the curriculum. After graduating with letters in the Sciences and arts program at the Cégep du Sherbrooke, Gosselin completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction at Bishop's University, in 2009, followed by a Certificate in Visual Arts at the University of Sherbrooke. She has participated in several group exhibitions such as the 6ème Salon du printemps des artistes, des Cantons-de-l'Est at the Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts, the2nd Edition of the Salon of local and regional artists at the Beaulne Museum of Coaticook, as well as various sculpture and printmaking exhibitions. She also presented her first solo exhibition, "L'espace qui est", in August 2011 at the Galerie Steve Saint-Pierre.

The Beaulne Museum is located at 96 Union Street, Coaticook.
