SHERBROOKE: Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre is proud to present the exhibition Vestiges d’aujourd’hui, an exhibition of photographs created by Sherbrooke resident Arlette Vittecoq. (September 8 to October 27, 2013). The public was invited to meet the artist during the opening Vernissage held on Sunday, September 8, at Uplands, 9 Speid Street in Sherbrooke (Borough of Lennoxville).

Throughout her latest project, Arlette Vittecoq pursues a reflection on the deterioration of our environment caused by waste of all kinds, denouncing the excesses of our consumerist society. She uses the image of the plastic bottle, among others, and produces an aesthetic rendering of this pollution.

Native of France, Arlette Vittecoq studied her art at the École Nationale de Photographie de Paris, then came to Sherbrooke some years later, in 1970. Lecturer for the visual arts certificate at Université de Sherbrooke for over 25 years, she also exhibited her works in many cities of Quebec and France, and was awarded different bursaries, testifying to the quality of her art.
